First and foremost, a special thanks goes out to @RensHijdra for his quick work on a handful of bug fixes for v2.8.6 which he submitted shortly after it was release yesterday.
Version 2.8.6 was released yesterday a little ahead of when I planned it to be released but an issue was found when logging
check_package
output when additional whiptail dialogs are shown due to an issue with a pipe in the command. The issue was encountered while trying to install the Postfix dependency. To resolve the issue, I have removed the ability to log apt output to the log file until a fix is found.New features contained within this release include the option to add ACARS support via ACARSDEC and ACARSSERV to a new or existing receiver. A new page was also added to the existing PHP portal allowing visitors to view ACARS data which has been collected and saved to an SQLite database by ACARSSERV. Due to the
check_package
issue the development of the portal page was a bit rushed so look for a more robust ACARS page to be made available as an update shortly.Other changes introduced in this release include the ability to reinstall existing decoders as well as asking for RTL-SDR device assignments whenever more than one decoder is installed on the same device. This was available in the past but only when installing an ADS-B decoder prior to installing a UAT decoder such as dump978. Now the installation order does not matter and whenever additional decoders are installed you will be asked to assign devices to each installed decoder.
The CHANGELOG for this release is as follows.
