It would be very nice to not have a limit of ~5MB in browser cache when saving and loading previously created cards.
It would also be nice to have the option to save the data using MySQL, MariaDB, and/or Sqlite.

Are you hitting the limit by uploading art? If that is the main reason for hitting the limit I think it's not worth the trouble. Hosting images can get expensive.
Personally I use images from URL or I have self hosted card conjurer in the past to use the local_art system.
