how to contribute a scope / make it ready for this architecture

Love this initiative, I feel exactly the same way. How do I contribute? In particular I currently already maintain an out-of-nixpkgs language scope and I'd love to make sure it's compatible with this. Any examples / pointers? I assume the hardest part will be getting the compiler in...

If this effort ever does become more tangible, then I would probably treat as if it was a separate NixOS release, with appropriate deprecation messages from the previous. Obviously this separation will increase with time, so it will probably be impossible to "be fully compatible with Nixpkgs indefinitely".

On the flip side, being able to deviate from nixpkgs and potentially implement better UX may be a major win which isn't really possible with nixos's rfc process.
