How to check for a new instance request

The first time, when the instance request was just submitted

These are some raw steps to validate a good instance, you may edit this page if you have more steps to do in mind:

  1. Look at the source code of the instance on most pages (channel page, home page, popular page). Check if you find any trace of modification with a vanilla instance.
If the instance does not specify a source code URL and there are some modifications, then ask to publish the modifications.
  2. In the source code, check for any trace of tracker or weird script. Ask to remove them if possible. Otherwise, tell them to fill the "Analytics" section if not already done. Strange or weird scripts are not allowed. Cryptominers, info stealer and so on.
  3. Check if the instance is up-to-date (should be at the very least 2 weeks old). If not ask to update and tell to keep the instance up to date.
  4. Check if the instance is behind a CDN like Cloudflare. If so, then check if it's mentioned in "Man in the Middle".
  5. Ask if the two tutorials (ipv6 rotator and improve instance performance) were followed. ipv6 rotator is a must

You can add Github labels to help you like "passed-checks" or "passed-uptime" or "failed-checks". This will help the maintainers.

After 30 days

  1. Check on the uptime robot link if the instance has a good uptime.
  2. If good, then do a check again of the steps above.
  3. Add the instance at the end of the list in https://github.com/iv-org/documentation/blob/master/docs/installation.md. Mention cloudflare if needed.
  4. Close the issue
