When a request is made to invite a user to a group, the role is provided as an enum in the request message.

enum UserRole {
COLLABORATOR = 0;
ADMIN = 1;
CURATOR = 2;
SUBMITTER = 3;
BANNED = 4;
}

You should not be able to send an invitation request for a user to have a "Banned" role, and have it complete successfully.
