Non-standard terminfo positions

When compiling ghostty with zig build it generates the files share/terminfo/ghostty.termcap and share/terminfo/ghostty.terminfo, which are not useful for the purpose of resolving terminal capabilities on linux.

Would it be a good idea to have an option to exclude them from the package? Or at least document for packagers what their purpose is and that they can be excluded?

They are absolutely useful on Linux. Ghostty was only very recently accepted into ncurses so its terminfo is not packaged by default anywhere

are just 3 cases where terminfo matters on linux (you can find many many more), go ahead and delete it on your local machine or run a program as root without
https://ghostty.org/docs/config/reference#shell-integration-features sudo feature and you will run into issues where programs know what ghostty is

(for the root one will be an issue if you install ghostty into ~/.local/ for example)

I know why and how terminfo is useful.
What I mean are specifically the files ghostty.termcap and ghostty.terminfo that are generated under zig-out/share/terminfo/.

As far as I understood they are the uncompiled terminfo/termcap files, which are not useful!
Or at least not on linux.

(For example they don't show up on infocmp or toe)

Have you installed the termcap/terminfo files into locations that infocmp or toe are looking for them? If not, then they obviously won't be found. It is unreasonable to expect that zig build will install files by default into system locations. You can use zig build -p <install prefix> to install the files into a location other than ./zig-out.

Again, I'm not talking about /share/terminfo/g/ghostty, or /share/terminfo/x/xterm-ghostty, which are installed under /usr as expected.

My point is that if they not being used they should be possible to be excluded from installing, or at least documented that they can be deleted! (on linux that is of cause)
