I've managed to avoid gender-specificity so far (I will be requesting a medal, it's not that easy in Polish!), but I'm totally at loss for "%{name} invited you to join FetLife." in signup/subtitle_invite.
Proper translation would require either the gender of the person who invited you ("%{name} zaprosił(a) Cię na FetLife") or, using the passive form, the gender of the person being invited ("Zostałaś/eś zaproszona/y na FetLife przez %{name}"). Since the latter isn't available yet, is it possible to obtain the gender of the person who is inviting? Otherwise I'll have to stick with the slightly awkward "zaprosił(a)".
For Polish, the gender can be:
feminine
masculine
neutral (this would imply the person who is inviting is not a person but an object, it's not normally used in such context but could be fun for someone who's into objectification or for Gorean kajiras)
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
"The person by the name '%{name}' invited you to join FetLife."
"You have been invited by the person with the name ... to join FetLife."
?
This circumvents also changing norms that include non-dual-gender users in the future (in Germany, I have the impression that the approaches change rapidly and preferred solutions change often at the moment).
