General issue report

Hi,

I opened an on the esp32-wifi-lib repository, which suggests an optimization to BSS scans. I'm unsure, whether that repo is actively monitored, so I reopened the issue here.
The issue can be found here espressif/esp32-wifi-lib#42

Greetings

Simon

Hi, thanks for the response. I totally get that. If it gets fixed, I'll see it in the decompilation :)

@hansw123 could you please relay the following message to your manager?

The ESP32-open-MAC project is trying to build an open-source Wi-Fi MAC layer, so that all code running on an ESP32 can be open source. Another goal is to make the ESP32 more useful: the Wi-Fi peripheral hardware is very powerful and flexible, but it's limited by the closed source software. We now even contributed to the power and CPU efficiency of scanning for Wi-Fi networks in esp32-wifi-lib. This was done purely based on reverse engineering, imagine the improvements the community could bring if the code were open source or if there would be documentation.

Aside from open sourcing the wifi and phy libraries, there are lots of other ways Espressif could help the project out: sending new ESP32 variants, releasing documentation (even very minimal docs help) about the Wi-Fi peripheral, confirming or pointing our errors in the documentation or code we wrote, ...
