seems like the utility of this service has two angles:

  • app implementers having a single place to go for profiles a la gravatar, back in the day
  • users actually knowing who people "are" for some defintion of "are"

now of course, like keybase, users can divulge as much or as little as they like. a weighting system hopefully means that totally anon accounts basically get to be anon but can't really verify anything else in the graph as "real" which makes sense
