Unable to bind ('Share') e-mail address to Identity Server: button is showed greyed out with no explanation #29116

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have an e-mail address already on the account. This can be done by registering with matrix.org.
  2. Settings → Privacy → Identity Server
  3. Try to click the Share button to bind a 3pid to the identity server

Outcome

What did you expect?

To be able to bind the e-mail address to the identity server, or otherwise have a tooltip explaining why the option is greyed out.

What happened instead?

The button is greyed out with no explanation.

I'm afraid that matrix.org disables this option. You have to use another homeserver to be able to use this feature.

I don't think this is the case; I can't see any configuration on matrix.org that disables this.

For now can I reopen?

I am hoping to check how identity services will be impacted before we migrate to MAS on matrix.org. (I was hoping not to have to handcraft any identity service requests :-))
