Uncaught exception 'Amazon_EC2_Exception' #2

Hi,
using the ec2-manage-snaphots I encontred this error:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Amazon_EC2_Exception' with message 'The snapshot snap-xxx is currently in use by ami-xxx'

and the script hangs.

I understand the error (I can't delete the snap because the ami is based on), but how can I delete the snaps instead?
