📍 Where would be the Improvement?

💬 LIVE CHATROOM

ℹ️ Describe your Idea

Firstly, the inability to write members unless they pay by the message is quite debilitating to the model's ability to coerce members into tipping. Private messaging is a feature that members and models alike use with increasing frequency. Members like to be able to reach out and chat with their friends who are viewing the stream to discuss private topics. By disallowing them from messaging one another, Eplay forces members to communicate offsite. This feature, or lack thereof, does not foster a community driven atmosphere, driving high-value clientele away from the website.

Models are also at a disadvantage when they cannot message members privately. While the model can freely send messages, the member cannot respond unless they tip per message. Very few people are willing to pay $1+ per message as they are already tipping in the room for direct actions.

Communication between model and member is essential to many shows as most members enjoy being asked to participate in the room. While they may enjoy the show, the model's communication makes the stream seem more personalized, encouraging them to invest more willingly in the community. By taking away this opportunity for communication, models are forced to take their messaging offsite, as I had to do last night.

During my stream on Nov 26th, I had to utilize my Snapchat messaging system to communicate with specific members. After a few messages on Snapchat, my stream went from having very few tokens to having members tip in bursts of 350 to 500 tokens, if not more. However, despite the success of my personal messaging system, having to pause my show to respond and send messages on my phone is disruptive and annoying to viewers who do not understand I am writing to fellow members.

An easy solution for this frustrating problem would be to allow members to freely message the model if they are a part of her sub club. This would give the model an automatic payment, and one that is possibly per month, just for members gaining the privilege of sending messages. Members should also be allowed to message one another to deepen their friendships and allow Eplay to prioritize a community-building environment.

Regarding my second suggestion, Eplay offers a leaderboard showing the top 3 cumulative tippers in the last 24 hours, week, and month, with no ability for a model to hide this information or change it to instead show the Highest Single Tip/Tippers during these time periods. On a site like Twitch, leaderboards play into the gaming atmosphere Twitch promotes by driving members to feel competitive with one another. Yet, on Eplay, it is an unnecessary feature that visibly shows members how much money they spend.

While there is no direct token amount on their end, it will remind them continuously they are the model's largest tipper. This feature can cause a plethora of issues to arise, putting the model in a position of open reliance on a few members. It is common for a model to have 2-5 members who tip most of her income. However, it is essential that information remain private, as when a member continuously tips a substantial portion of the model's income, it establishes a power dynamic that goes beyond the initial transaction itself, leaving her vulnerable to manipulations and demands.

This power dynamic introduces the potential for manipulation. The model, understanding the significance of the member's contributions, may find themselves in a position where they are more susceptible to the member's demands. This vulnerability arises from the fear of jeopardizing a substantial income source, leading to a situation where the member could exploit their financial leverage.

This scenario may seem unreal to some, but it is frequently experienced by thousands of models across our industry. Protecting the models from this painful situation should be Eplay's utmost priority. Once more, a very easy solution is to allow models to hide this feature on the website or change it to show the single Highest Tip of the evening, week, or month instead of a cumulative highest tipper.

The modification to this feature aims to foster a more competitive atmosphere among members, encouraging them to strive towards becoming the top tipper of the day to secure the coveted High Tip prize from the model. This adjustment presents a more attainable objective than surpassing a cumulative amount over 30 days. Budgeting for a day's worth of tokens is more manageable for members with varying income levels than attempting to outdo the expenditure of another member over an entire month.

Furthermore, the alteration addresses concerns related to buyer's remorse by concealing the specific number of tokens members contribute to a model. Introducing a High Tip leaderboard engages members in a competitive spirit without revealing the total monthly expenditure. This approach alleviates potential buyer's remorse and motivates members to vie for the top tipper position within a defined timeframe, particularly when models offer enticing prizes for such achievements.

Lastly, I have a list of minor suggestions based on my experiences with my last 3 Eplay streams.

  1. Allow models to create a rule section on their pages. The current organic crowd on Eplay is a tad demanding and rude; showcasing a rule section in chat may help remind them to speak with empathy and compassion.

  2. On tip menus, models cannot have tip options of duplicate amounts. ie, instead of 3 options for 30 tokens, the model has to create options with differing amounts, 30, 31, 32,...

  3. Currently, on stream, a model can see how long they have been online but not the total tokens earned for the stream. The ability to track tokens in real-time without switching tabs to search through revenue reports would boost morale and help models focus solely on the chat page.

  4. Room List Room List ROOM LIST! For the love of all holey, please add a real-time room list visible on the chat page. Currently, there is a room list that shows maybe 10-15 members in the room. However, it does not update in real-time, AND the model has to switch away from the room chat's window to view the member list. It was also proven the member list does not actively update during my stream on Nov 26th when I was roll-calling members to see who was present, and many were not listed in the member section but were actively chatting in the stream room. Please add a room list that is placed alongside the chat window and updates instantaneously so models can see who is in their room to greet them and to draw them into conversation.

An active room list is essential to building a community-based environment, as it allows members to greet one another as they enter and helps members find friends in different rooms across the site. It also gives models the ability to pull quieter members into discussion so as to help them feel more welcome and get them to become active members of Eplay's community.

  1. Allow room moderators the ability to assist in changing goals or token amounts. The room admin currently has this job, but they do find it difficult. If a room mod were allowed to make these changes, it would inspire them with pride and allow them to feel more emotionally invested in the room as they now have a job in it. It would also help the model when her hands are busy to change goals based on verbal queues.

  2. Allow members to post and submit gifs for chat use. I saw the sub-club allows model-specific emotes to be published. But as models are usually very busy with offline work, they may find creating more time for gif creation and uploading challenging. However, the members don't share this obstacle and usually make a variety of creative gifs to be used in the stream. If the members in a sub-club could upload their own gifs to be approved and used by the model, it would help them feel more valued on the site as they can assist their favorite model and share some of their favorite moments from the stream.

  3. My final suggestion comes in the plea for username creativity. Many members and models change their usernames / colors to depict special events they celebrate or whimsical nods to a holiday. Currently, a name change requires contact with an Eplay admin, and there is no option to change text colors. By allowing this ability, Eplay would showcase their appreciation for ingenuity and would allow members to show their community spirit for a model!
