Images Flicker in w3m #1666
Comments
Hey @cqexbesd. How are you I've tried w3m:
But I did not get it to show any image until I also passed w3m -sixel http://theguardian.co.uk/ And this is the result: p.s.: it took a while to load all images in w3m internally, but it did not get a flickering withi. You may see a flickering when w3m is NOT using sixel but an overlay window. Most likely you're running in X11 still? :D |
I can repro it, and I am using x11 @christianparpart |
are you sure w3m is using sixel protocol or overlay window instead? |
I am not 100% sure but guess that this is sixel, since with tiling wm extra windows would break everything |
Contour Terminal version

Installer source
Github: source code cloned
Operating System
Arch Linux as of a few days ago
Architecture

Steps to reproduce
w3m http://theguardian.co.uk/
wait for it to load all the images and scroll down to the articles, where the images should be shown.
Expected Behavior
To see the images
Actual Behavior
The images only show very briefly when you move the cursor and disappear again.
Additional notes
Works in xterm 396.
It's not specific to the one site - that was just an example of a site with lots of pictures - it seems to happen on any site with images.
I know we have discussed this IRL but I don't think I ever opened an issue - I can't find one at least. No urgency from my side.
