@sandervanderkolk I actually like this one, it immediately reminds me of a new tech school that is being built in Estonia right now: https://kood.tech/. However, it might be hard to pronounce for non-Estonians (or not). |
This will lead to confusion again. |
@unixshaman Why would you think that? |
Checked the EU IPO database, 24 Trade marks with KOOD in the name. none with KoodAI. https://euipo.europa.eu/eSearch/#basic/1+1+1+1/100+100+100+100/Kood |
People will google the plugin, find the school site, and not understand why there is no documentation or mention of the plugin. |
GPT for IDEA? |
If "IDEA" - "IntelliJ IDEA" - Plugin not only for IDEA, it work in PyCharm, WebStorm and other JB IDE's. |
I don't think that would be an issue. These are two completely different things, each with its own goals in mind. In fact, it might even lead to a partnership, as I used to work for someone who is now funding that school. However, I do agree that 'unique' would be better. |
Thank you everyone for posting your ideas! ❤ I will keep this thread open until Sunday (16.02) and then create a poll for the ones I like the most. A small note: I'm not sure if I really like the acronym "GPT" in the name. It has actually been bothering me for a while since the end goal is to offer tools around LLMs, not the language model itself. CodeGPT was just something I got stuck with but never intended to keep. |

It was just something random that popped up during my morning feed scroll 😄 I believe the ultimate goal is to be versatile and offer everything that improves the developer experience in general, including agentic capabilities. As a starting point, I'd like to achieve this without relying on codebase indexing or performing RAG over your entire codebase. Essentially, it would be an agent capable of executing simple CRUD file actions by learning from the previous conversation history. However, to test this, we need to address #805 first. So, when ingesting code for the LLM, we also need to provide the path to the file. Instead of:
We should handle it like this:
Hahah, Jipity is a clever one! However, it might be tricky to recommend verbally 😄 |
I've created the poll here: #887 Please vote for your preferred option. |
It is important to consider SEO inside Intellij plugin marketplace. People who see other AI agents in VSCode of their colleagues are going to search through JetBrains marketplace with the same keywords or similar ;). The plugin does good job so far. However, competition soon to emerge, as VSCode is overcrowded already. Another consideration for the plugin adaption at work is data compliance. While companies tend to provide some initial funding or attempt to standardize on AI tooling (like Co-Pilot movement), making that process easier for companies and employees to follow is crucial. Renaming is always painful. Thank you for your work @carlrobertoh 🙏🏻 Good luck! |
Here are the opinions of the AI on the contender names: ClaudeLet me analyze each option and provide some thoughts on their suitability as a replacement for CodeGPT: While it matches the company name, it's too generic and doesn't specifically indicate a coding assistant CodeBee Friendly and memorable KoodAI Creative spelling of "code" Braice Unique name combining "brain" and possibly "AI" Zyntax Creative play on "syntax" Jipity Playful and unique Recommendation: Has a clear connection to programming through its relationship to "syntax" Alternative Suggestion: Descriptive of the tool's function Would you like me to analyze any of these options in more detail or suggest more alternatives? R1Based on the considerations of branding, clarity, memorability, and avoiding trademark conflicts, here's a concise evaluation and recommendation: Top Recommendations:

Final Advice: If ProxyAI is trademark-safe, use it to leverage your existing brand. Otherwise, Zyntax strikes a balance between relevance and uniqueness. Avoid names that dilute clarity (e.g., Braice) or risk typos (KoodAI). Always verify trademark availability for the final choice. ChatGPTProxyAI • Shares its name with the company, which could strengthen brand consistency but may lead to confusion or dilute the product’s unique identity.CodeBee KoodAI Braice Zyntax Jipity Recommendation: “Zyntax” best balances relevance, uniqueness, and memorability. Alternative Suggestion: “CodeNova” – it suggests innovation and coding prowess while remaining succinct and modern. Surprisingly, all three of them chose "Zyntax" |
I am afraid it's too late, but still Your plugin is very different from hundreds of others, because it's opensource. And it's not only awesome, but also makes it very outstanding an unique. So I would suggest to mark it in name, for example, put word "open" into it 😉 |
Thanks for your kind thoughts! 🙂 I've been trying to keep it SEO friendly, although I know that both the plugin's description and screenshots need some refinement.
True, and I have some ideas about this. First and foremost, the plugin's documentation site needs to be taken care of, which I'm still having a hard time doing. |
Hehe, such as |
I'm keeping the poll open until Friday, but from the looks of it, it seems that |
Closing this. The name will remain ProxyAI as is. I will also update the logo soon. Huge thanks to everyone for thinking along! ❤ |
With 'CodeGPT' now off the table, it's time to get creative and find a new name for the extension.
I'm open to all ideas - names, logos, slogans, you name it. It would be nice if the name also reflects local coding assistance, but it doesn't necessarily have to.
