Ubuntu mate 20.04.1: protonvpn-tray very hug tray icon

Hi,
I just installed latest protonvpn-gui and protonvpnn-tray on ubuntu mate 20.04.1 with familiar version of DE.
I created a custom application launcher and when the application is running, the try icon is very huge.

This has been previously posted by another user on Mate DE, check at the end of #36. For the last user, it seemed that the issue disappeared, although the reasons are unknown as of why.

I've been able to replicate this on ubuntu mate 18.04. I am still uncertain what causes this, as all necessary packages were installed. Also, for some reason I was not able to change panel icon size for some reason in MATE Tweaks. See if that works for you (if possible, attach some more screenshots).
