[Solved] Annotation for tasks breaks down preview mode #607

I solved this, but I'm keeping this up, in case it may help anyone else in the future. Unless I'm doing something wrong, the annotation mechanism for tasks breaks the preview mode of obsidian. Specifically, using double colons within brackets turns the contents into "code" for some reason. Please see the attached screenshot: It would have been nice if we could use the annotation functionality without hindering the aesthetics. |

This is the fancy highlighting mechanism for task fields; the fix which uses better CSS was released in 0.4.19, which is already available, though it breaks with some themes because they don't meaningfully set |

for their themes. You can manually fix the CSS if desired, or disable the feature.
