How to use pseudo-release transliteration for singletons?

If I try to import a Japanese song as a singleton that has a pseudo-release transliterated in English the title is still in Japanese, but the artist is transliterated (using its English alias).

If I tag the song with Picard, manually choosing the pseudo-release, and import on beets with the auto tagger on, beets re-tags with the original title in Japanese.
Looks like the pull #4714 is intended to resolve this.

I'm using the latest release (2.2.0) on Arch Linux. I tried the import with all plugins disabled and using only the config "import.languages = en" too.
