Strange behavior after pip3 install on Cygwin #4

I'm using Cygwin, and have run pip3 install mdvl. That installed a pretty old (?) version - mdvl-2017.7.16.7

When I run it on a markdown file, I get the raw markdown, and:

md error:  not enough values to unpack (expected 2, got 1)

What does this mean?
