Unexpected client version

I am trying to run this command in a Jenkinsfile:

sh "/nfs/jenkins/bin/argocd --grpc-web app sync $JOB_NAME --force"

The command runs fine by hand, but in the build agent pod, I get the following:

argocd version run manually returns

Where might this old 1.2 version number be coming from?

Duh, run the version in the Jenkins build agent pod, and it reveals the build pod version is 1.2.
