The discussions related to the evolution of the Arduino language have a new place! This space is open to all the community members and stakeholders of the Arduino open source ecosystem as a way to collaborate on increasing the portability of the code from one platform to the other by identifying opportunities for standardization.

Examples of discussions that are welcome here:

• Extension of the core API with new functions and classes
• Deprecation of platform-specific API in favor of new standard ones
• Creation of new official libraries to provide better abstraction over common concepts

there is 1 thing about analogWrite() which should be considered to be changed:
Some boards (e.g. M4) have (real) analog output ports providing a DC voltage.
OTOH, what analogWrite() actually does for digital pins is a digital pwm output, not analog at all.
The things become totally confusing for board pins which can be either digital or analog, both for reading and writing.
So I would suggest to RENAME analogWrite() for DIGITAL pins to pwmWrite() and use analogWrite just for ANALOG output for the future.
In the medium term analogWrite might also still support pwm as before (albeit deprecated), but at least initially pwmWrite () should also be introduced for pwm additionally.

@dsyleixa, please rest assured that @per1234 has one of the most benevolent attitudes towards any Arduino user, contributor, etc. that I know of (and I have been working with him for nearly four years at this point 😉 ). Certainly that's a misunderstanding only.

+1 in support of @per1234’s commitment to the platform. And It is common practice for requesters to own their post/ideas/request in public space
