Hello!

Just installed and after setting up the app in it's preferences the icon disappeared from the Menu Bar, I can quit it from Activity Monitor and when I restart it it does show while it's initializing and I can click on it to get it's menu to appear. The icon still disappears but the Menu Bar shows there is something there like a clear overlay across the menu.

I have attached a video of what is happening, first I just open up PiBar then I quit it and reopen and get the menu to appear. If you don't click before it flashes and moves the options are unclickable but if you click on something before it works and will open that menu

Are you using some sort of utility to customize your menu bar? I can't really guarantee that PiBar will play well with other utilities, can't say I have ever seen or heard of this issue before.

I am not using anything to customize the Menu Bar, however I did some testing.

I booted into Safe Mode and with nothing else on the Menu Bar I was able to open it up and see that it was showing a lot of data so it takes up like 40% of the available space. Having an M1 MBP I have the notch so I would imagine that PiBar is hitting the notch and then disappearing which points to that overlay in the video it's probably being pushed behind the Menu Bar. I turned off all the Menu Bar Stats and the icon seems to stick around now

Ahh, makes sense to me.

I am also having this issue on M1 MBP. When disconnected, the menu bar icon displays next to the text "Offline". However, the moment I updated my API key and it connected, the menu icon disappears completely.

@stevenkword this might help? https://www.jessesquires.com/blog/2023/12/16/macbook-notch-and-menu-bar-fixes/

You might also want to customize PiBar settings so the text descriptions are as compact as possible.

Thank you for the quick response! I didn't realize how wide the menu item was when the Menu Bar Stats were enabled. I did some testing with Bartender 5 and the notch was in fact the culprit.
