Describe the bug

When trying to play an episode of VRT Journaal Laat the following error is displayed:
"Failed to load a compatible stream, please try toggling Use Widevine DRM in the add-on Playback settings"
This was not the case until this morning. When enabling the Widevine DRM in the settings, this did not fix the problem.

To Reproduce

Play any vrtnu episode.

Expected behavior

Stream plays back

Please try to invalidate the local http caches in the VRT NU Add-on Expert Settings.

I had the same problem. I noticed the Inputstream Adaptive setting was disabled. After I enabled it again, the stream worked again.

This morning I tried it again and it worked fine. I didn't change any settings. Very strange!

It's because "Het Journaal" is initially provided as a virtual subclip from the DRM-protected live stream.
After a couple of hours VRT uploads an unprotected on demand stream and the stream info is changed.

Maybe the add-on doesn't handle the stream info caching very well in this specific case. I'll take another look.

Hmm, today it happened again. Something must've changed at VRT's way of working because in the past year or 2 or so I never had any problems with it.

Yes, you need to enable Widevine DRM.

Using the YeloTV addon, it used to detect and ask to download a new version of WideVine, but since that addon doesn't work anymore, I guess I might have an outdated version

Make sure you have InputStreamHelper en InputStream Adaptive add-ons installed.
Can you post the info screen from InputStreamHelper? This shows the installed version of Widevine CDM.

Just as a reference, VRT.NU has recently modified their live streams to only work using DRM. This impacts live TV and watching shows that are still being (or recently have been) broadcasted.

In case your system is not able to have a working Widevine DRM implementation, you will not be able to watch Live TV streams or very recently broadcasted content. You may have to wait a bit before the VOD content is working without DRM protection.

Same problem here. I use total different OS. Seams hot topic here over Widevine at https://libreelec.tv/
It seams not an easy problem to adapt Widevine on non x86 or amd cpu's.... Anyone know to adapt Widevine on a LibreElec? Have Odroid C2 hardware.

I reinstalled with newer version LibreElec, now 9 instead 8.2 and it works again. He installed stream and wine automatic after hé ask if you want to.

Widevine CDM 4.10.1679.0 doesn't work anymore.
You need to upgrade your system, this means a newer operating system that supports the newest Widevine CDM.

Did a fresh kodi install (19.1), installed vrt nu 2.5.4, upgraded to 2.5.5.
Installed widevine via vrt nu and still it fails

So means I will be not able to play vrt nu again on my setup....

Your operating system doesn't support Widevine 4.10.2252.0, you need to upgrade the system that runs Kodi.

I have installed kodi via osmc, so that operating system it out dated.
Can anyone recommend an other setup for my raspberry pi 3 ?
LibreELEC or Xbian ?

For those stuck with problems on older devices like a s912 or s905 you can manually upgrade to Coreelec 9.2.8 which fixes the OS to support the latest Widevine 4.10.2252.0.

It would be handy if someone could list here or on the wiki the operating systems (in my case, for the Raspberry Pi) that are up to date in terms of Widevine DRM support for VRT Nu.

I have here OSMC, on which over a month ago, I installed Widevine DRM and got things working again.
However, since a week or two it no longer works for the same reason.

Those constant changes really drive this cable cutter crazy…

Raspberry Pi 3+
Kodi 19.1
All works fine for the moment.
It might help to de-install widevind DRM en re-install it again.
This can be done in the configuration of VTR NU itself
