A barebones checklist for working with the Wordpress CMS. Assumes you have a place to install and a reasonable understanding of how to do so. Doesn’t assume you want every SEO, Contact Form and Crazy Content Widget plugin out there.
However, there are some great plugins which can seriously help with the development and running of a Wordpress site. Here are a few you might like to look into:
- Advanced Custom Fields – This is particularly useful for overcoming some of Wordpress’ content limitations when developing.
- iThemes Security
- Contact Form 7 / Gravity Forms
- Maintenance Mode
- Google XML Sitemaps
- Yoast SEO
- W3 Total Cache
- Google Analytics by Yoast
- Backup Buddy
- WP Updates Notifier – This is a handy way to keep you notified when an update is availbel for Wordpress or one of your plugins.
