Pressing Enter repeatedly to skip the intro starts the game. Otherwise the game crashes. The game most likely is crashing because of WMV files but this is just my wild guess. Fortunately this game only has one WMV file, which is the opening video.

There is an issue for all WMV files: #1464
Seems like Arc System fighting games have the same issues, except recent games that use Unreal Engine 3, such as Guilty Gear Xrd.

The game gets glitched in 1080p fullscreen mode and not properly stretched in 720p fullscreen mode. The game only really plays correctly in 720p windowed mode. A workaround is to use the window manager fullscreen mode, if that's available (e.g., $mod+f on i3).

Looks like that got around the crash. The game is still unplayable for me because it runs too fast, which I have seen in a few other fighting games run with proton.
I was also unable to get the game to render in anything other than the default resolution, even when changing the config file before starting up the game. The screen remains black.

@Christo6 I don't have performance issues with the game. In fact I finished the game with two characters already. These are my specs:

I have checked on youtube to see if the game is running properly and it does seem everything is running perfect on my end.

@Christo6 I was able to reproduce your problem with another guess. It's due to the 120hz. The game apparently only likes 60hz. Fortunately I also have a 120hz monitor and was able to test it.

EDIT:
A quick search suggested that this is a problem of the game itself. Same happens on Windows. The game only runs properly at 60fps and with 120hz it's going to v-sync to 120fps. And here I thought everyone agreed that using delta times is a good idea but I guess some developers didn't get the message yet :)
