Unmanic section: Plugins
Plugin: New plugin
Issue: Completed encodes may have significantly more artifacts, frames skipped, color deviation, etc than the original source file which results in a noticeable viewing difference
Comments: I have been running a docker container (link below) to compare the original source video to the new encoded video in an attempt to quantify the quality difference. While there is going to always be some form of quality loss, my hope is to reduce the loss to an acceptable level and have it be a set/forget type of setting instead of manually running it or using a .sh script to call the container external of Unmanic. Having a way to compare the quality between the source and encoded files without relying on an external container or script, and then make a decision to keep or trash it while reporting the decision to the data panel would be great for assisting in the automation.
