Since Ubuntu Web is exactly the traditional Ubuntu, it makes a lot more sense to create a .desktop launcher for the site, place the icon in usr/share/icons/hicolor/apps and package it as a .deb file. There are many free hosts for open source project repositories, like JFrog Bintray and GitHub itself.
