Project Summary

ATSPro is a game-changing application designed to bridge the critical gap between resume building and landing your dream job. By leveraging Google Gemini Pro AI, ATSPro enhances your resume's compatibility with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), increasing your interview chances significantly. It not only helps in building ATS-friendly resumes but also provides tailored interview prep and deep insights into job applications.

In the contemporary job market, the use of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) by companies has become very common, particularly in mid to large-sized organizations. It is estimated that about 75% of all resumes submitted are never reviewed by human eyes, primarily due to being filtered out by ATS for failing to meet certain algorithmic criteria. This creates a significant barrier for job seekers, where even highly qualified candidates can be overlooked simply because their resumes do not align well with the ATS parameters.

Primary Purpose

ATSPro is specifically designed to address this pervasive issue. Our application aids job seekers by analyzing and refining their resumes to ensure they meet both the technical requirements of ATS and the qualitative expectations of human recruiters. By leveraging the advanced capabilities of Google Gemini Pro AI, ATSPro evaluates resumes against targeted job descriptions. This process involves:

  • ATS Compatibility Enhancement: The app scans the resume for keywords, phrases, and formats that are known to be ATS-friendly. It ensures that these elements are presented in a way that increases the likelihood of the resume passing through ATS filters.

  • Recruiter Appeal: Beyond just ATS optimization, ATSPro enhances the resume to appeal to human recruiters. This includes improving the overall readability, structuring the content to highlight achievements and skills effectively, and ensuring the language used matches that of the industry and role applied for.

  • Customized Feedback and Suggestions: ATSPro provides personalized feedback on how to improve resumes. This might include suggesting stronger action verbs, advising on the reorganization of sections for better impact, and identifying skills or accomplishments that are particularly relevant to the job description but may be underrepresented in the resume.

  • Interview Preperation Guide: Provides tips on how interview questions can be asked for a particular role. Provides sample questions and suggestions on answering these different questions in the best way highlighting the candidates expertise.

By addressing these key areas, ATSPro significantly increases a job applicant’s chances of their resume not only being seen by recruiters but also making a strong impression, thereby greatly improving their likelihood of being invited for interviews and ultimately securing job offers. The integration of AI-driven insights and real-time data analysis ensures that ATSPro’s users are equipped with the most effective tools to navigate the modern job landscape successfully.

This demographic includes both early career professionals who are looking to establish themselves in competitive job markets and experienced professionals seeking career advancement or transitions. These individuals are likely to encounter ATS as a primary screening tool in their job application process.

  • High Usage of ATS: Mid to large-sized companies are the most frequent users of Applicant Tracking Systems. Professionals applying to these companies are the most affected by ATS filters, and they stand to benefit significantly from an application that enhances their resume’s compatibility with these systems.

  • Diversity of Industries: By targeting job seekers across various industries, ATSPro addresses a broad market where ATS usage is a common barrier. This approach allows the application to have a wider impact, helping a diverse range of job seekers to overcome one of the initial hurdles in the job application process.

  • Need for Differentiation: In competitive job markets, differentiation through a well-crafted resume is crucial. ATSPro helps users optimize their resumes not just for ATS compatibility but also for making a strong impression on human recruiters, thereby addressing a critical need.

  • LinkedIn Partnership: Define clear mutual benefits, connect with key LinkedIn personnel involved in business development, and propose a partnership that integrates ATSPro’s services with LinkedIn to improve user job application success.

The monetization strategy for ATSPro is structured around a freemium model, designed to cater to a broad user base while also generating revenue through premium offerings:

Basic Features (Free):

  • Resume Match Overview: Users get an overview analysis showing how well their resume matches a given job description.
  • Keyword Identification: Identifies critical keywords missing from the resume that are important for ATS compatibility.
  • Bullet Point Suggestions: Provides general suggestions on how to improve bullet points to demonstrate impact and value more effectively.
  • Interview Prep Tips: Offers tips and strategies for answering different interview questions asked based on candidates profile and job description.

Premium Features (Subscription-Based):

  • Custom Interview Coaching: Offers personalized interview preparation based on the user's resume and target job role, including potential questions and optimized responses.
  • LinkedIn Integration and Insights: Automatically connects to the user’s LinkedIn profile to synchronize updates and provide insights on optimizing the LinkedIn profile for better visibility and recruiter engagement.
  • Real-Time Resume Editing Assistance: Offers real-time editing tools and professional feedback, ensuring resumes are polished and compelling.

Initial Design

Initial Design for ATSPro - Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

MVP Scope and Limitations:

The MVP of ATSPro focuses on delivering core functionalities necessary to demonstrate the primary value proposition of enhancing resumes for ATS compatibility and appeal to recruiters. The MVP will include essential features, while more advanced capabilities will be reserved for future versions based on user feedback and technical feasibility. Known limitations at this stage might include a limited number of resume templates and restricted AI capabilities, which will be expanded in subsequent iterations.

UI/UX Design:

  • User Interface: The MVP will feature a clean, intuitive interface designed for ease of use. OPening the app with a plain logo and app name, asking for login (using either google or face id login for iOS). Then, it will include simple straight forward resume upload button (asking to proceed with the current existing resume or upload a new one) and area to enter the job description. Then it directs to the results screen displaying results according to the navigation menu on the bottom with options like % Match, Missing Keywords, Suggestions, Interview Prep and profile, , and visual indicators of ATS compatibility scores.
  • User Experience: Emphasis will be placed on providing a seamless user journey from resume upload to feedback generation. The MVP will ensure that users receive immediate value through quick scans and basic improvement suggestions.

Current Implementation:

  • Authentication - Login Authentication is implemented using Apple's FaceID Biometric authentication as that's the most used authentication method among 99% users.
  • Storage - Provided functionality to use the local storage or iCloud of the users to upload the resume of the user. The provided job description and Job title are stored in the app's local storage provided for iOS apps.
  • AI Generating Responses - The reponses of Resume Analysis, Missing Keywords, Suggestions and Interview PRepaeration are generated by the Gooogle Gemini Pro model through an API. These responses are displayed respective to features.
  • Chat Interface - Developed a dynamic chat interface where the user can have a conversation with the AI regrading its responses and provide any user queries.
  • State Management - The app perfectly handles the different states mentioned in HW3 documentation.
  • Basic Functionality - The basic functionality of the user interface, app storage, text extraction from PDF and state management is completely implemented.

  • Google Gemini Pro AI: Used for advanced natural language processing and resume optimization.
  • LinkedIn API (Future): Enables integration for profile optimization and networking features in the premium version.
  • iOS Operating System: Platform requirement for app functionality and compatibility.
  • Apple Developer Program: Necessary for app submission and distribution on the App Store.
  • Xcode and Swift: Tools and programming language for iOS app development.
  • Local Storage and Local Authentication: Manages data storage and Login Authentiation locally on the device.
  • SwiftUI PDF Kit: Text Extraction from PDF.

Future Implementation to Finish The Final App

  • Gemini LLM Integration - Finish the Gemini LLM Integration into the App.
  • Download Functionality - Incorporate the functionality to download the conversation and responses in PDF format.
  • User Profile - Finish implementation of user profile settings in Home screen (Profile, theme settings and about)
