4-Pin RGB Strips

You mentioned 4-Pin RGB LEDS. Do 4 Pin LED Strips also work? I have some leftovers

4pin strips exists? Never heard of this before.

I'm going to assume you mean ones that use so-called "5050" LEDs? While yes, in theory they should be compatible as a common anode type LED, in practice the only types of these strips I can find use 12V power, which is more than double of what any microcontroller can provide (the maximum and only supported is 5V).

I used them with the pi Zero before.

5V are fine, but this is another type of addressable LED - definitely not a fourpin in the traditional sense, and not a DotStar nor a NeoPixel. We only support NeoPixels (individual Pixel or strips) for the sake of simplicity, due to difficulties with libraries and code complexity.
