Somehow this does not seem to do the trick.

matlabbatch{1}.cfg_basicio.file_dir.file_ops.cfg_gunzip_files.keep = true;

This is important otherwise the python notebook (if run after the octave one) will not work anymore because the "target" files will have disappeared.
