Roadmap

ramuntcho edited this page Jun 21, 2018 · 2 revisions

This page outlines the main goals for future releases. While the internal roadmap for the OpenBoard developers is largely pre-determined, any external contribution is very welcome, whether it addresses items below or anything else.

The list below includes some items we are actively working on or have planned to address, but also several that we may not be able to work on ourselves – so if you’d like to contribute some improvements to OpenBoard, feel free to give any of these a go!

## 1.3.x

Our main focus is on fixing bugs, which are not listed here but some of which are listed in the [changelog](https://github.com/OpenBoard-org/OpenBoard/wiki/Changelog) under “known issues”, with more in the issues.

## 1.4 (22.3.2018)

  • Podcast module on Linux
  • Resizable background grid, and ruled background
  • Improvements to stroke drawing
  • Better page preview pane, in board mode (allow dragging pages around)

## 1.4.1

  • Podcast module corrected for macOS
  • Updated Calculator and GraphMe widgets, new widget (QR code)
  • Modification of the installation package for Ubuntu 16.04
  • New translation into Galician and correction for Spanish
  • Duplicate Button for the Mask
  • New item in the preferences to be able to reverse the order if 2 projected screens

## 1.4.2

  • version for Ubuntu 18.04

## 1.5

  • Better UI for documents mode (allow sorting of documents by name, etc.)

## Future, loosely ordered by priority

  • Building of 64 bit version on Windows, and easy switching between 32/64bit builds; support of msvc2015
  • More modular package structure for Linux, e.g to allow “clean” .deb package. Currently relies too much on hard-coded paths for files
  • Remove all references to Qt Webkit, which was removed as of Qt 5.6. Should be replaced by WebEngine.
