Short CV

I studied Physics at the University of Murcia, Spain. I graduated in 2005, receiving the Extraordinary B.Sc. Award for the best student in the degree of Physics. In 2006 I got a scholarship for my Master studies in Quantitative Finances in Madrid. In 2007 I got a FPU fellowship funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education to course my PhD studies. In December 2011 I got a PhD in Science (European mention). From October 2011 to April 2012 I was funded by the SPEQTRES project. Between May 2011 and September 2013 I was working at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht in Germany, funded by the PRIME2 project. Currently I am working in the Climate and Environmental Physics department of the University of Bern. My research focuses on the use of Regional Climate Models (RCMs). I have studied paleoclimate, as well as climate change projections. Currently I work in high-resolution simulations for the Alpine area, focusing in the extreme precipitation and severe wind events. I have been guest researcher in several international institutions, such as the Environmental Sciences Research Centre in Canada, the Justus-Liebig University Giessen in Germany or the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast in the United Kingdom. I have contributed to a number of international conferences in Europe and the United States (EGU general assembly and AGU fall meeting, among others). I am user of huge computational resources, such as the Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum (DKRZ) or the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS, currently the number 6 in the list of the top 500 supercomputers in the world). I have published several papers in JCR-included peer-reviewed journals. Currently, I am involved in several scientific projects such as SPEQTRES, PRIME2, SALVÁ-SINOBAS, ESCENA or EOLMAP.
