Default time span is only valid when time buttons are visible

Time Buttons
If you long press the icon on the main screen and enable time buttons, the time buttons will appear on the main screen. Using time buttons, you can choose the span shown on screen with the press of a single button.
But, more importantly, if you long press one of them, you will select a default time span. If you pinch the screen and change the shown span and then leave the main screen by viewing the logs, when you return, you will get your chosen default time span.

Problem
Unfortunately, the default time span is only active if the time buttons are showing on the main screen.
If you remove the time buttons from the main screen, after selecting your preferred default value, the selected default time span will be ignored.

Would you please allow the default time span to remain active even after the time buttons are removed from the main screen?
