Internal dev versions issue with version upgrade

Describe the bug

-For internal dev version dates, running the upgrade script can sometimes disrupt sam files when trying to run the same upgrade script again for the final release date.

To Reproduce

-Example: running the upgrade script for the adjust variable on a script that has already removed the adjust hash tables causes a hard crash.

Expected behavior

-A clear method of handling version upgrade for internal dev versions.
