Reporting client info: Client Information:

Key:futexwait

Round ID:

3030

Testmerges:

Reproduction:

I was told to report this issue after receiving a warning for "LRP / griefy behaviour" for suiciding or emoting a deathgasp on the abductors table, negetively impacting the abductors game. I did not do that, but I am not here to contest the warning. The trouble is I did not CHOOSE to die on the table so I have no way of PREVENTING it from happened again. I am going to describe what happened the best I can so that this bug doesn't affect others like me in the future.

It was Round ID: 3029 - Christmas Port XXXVI on MonkeStation 2.0. Byond client version 514.1589 on Windows 10. I was playing as Vincent Bullard. I was trying to fix a breach in the lower bar on Ice Cube when I was abducted. I died almost immediately. My screen went dark and gray and then lit up and I saw a ghost. It a cat ghost that was orbiting and they asked me how I died in dead chat. I tried to respond in dead chat that I died because the abductors were hitting me. Instead I replied in OOC by mistake, which really really sucked. I then wrote "Whoops" in dead chat, which should be in the logs. After that I was revived only to immediately die again. I don't know how many times because I was busy typing PMs to an admin to try and answer their questions. As far as I remember the only health issues I had at the time of abduction was brute damage from fighting a carp and a virus because I was sniffing. I was told that I was emoting deathgasp and griefing. But I saw ghosts and dead chat and even typed into dead chat. My health was crit on my screen and it told me in chat that "Vincent Bullard has died". I did not get the "shrivelled up and gasps" emote text. I was also told I used *suicide to kill myself. But AFAIK there is flavor text for that that would also be in logs and I CANNOT be revived after suicide.

So given a log record of me typing in dead chat and also a log of me being revived, I can only conclude that it was neither an emote nor suicide. I don't think it had anything to do with my client. While in removed from the round in the admin room I tried reproducing a deathgasp by pressing all my typing keys, thinking that typing my pms might be triggering it. I checked my game preferences and all my key bindings for emotes were unassigned. Something was killing me and if it wasn't the abductors hitting me, it must be some kind of bug. I considered some symptom of the virus but I don't think regenerative comas or anything work like that either.

Hopefully this information might help prevent this situation from happening again and ruining the fun for the abductors / abductees. Thank you.

I had also attempted to repeat what was presumed to be happening. However, whatever was going on wasn't immediately apparent. My attempts to recreate this issue have failed thus far. And yes, from the Abductors perspective, it appeared that there was attempts to deathgasp out, but one has to be low on health to do just that in order to have that sweet release of death.
