What is the current behavior?
Commodities are fixed and use custom code built into the dev env to provision
What is the expected/proposed behavior?
Have some sort of plugin based architecture for commodoties, including private sources. Use some sort of API to adhere to to hook in to various parts of the dev env.
What is the motivation / use case for changing the behavior?
More flexibility
