Run local frontend against codespace backend? #1

Does it work for me to point my local frontend at a deployed (say, github codespaces for example) backend? Might this be a sweet spot for those only doing frontend dev? They need only install node, clone, install dependencies, and not need python, db, and the backend's pip packages?
