Unused Generated Pages #539
Comments
While working on #572 I realized that this is a taxonomy on the site and hugo is generating the default taxonomy page for it. I am not sure what the original idea was for the "category" taxonomy, but I will remove category from the taxonomy list and make sure that it does not break anything on the site and we won't have that random page sitting in there. |
I have also come across other unused pages that exists for every person and every sponsor on the website. This can be observed at:
The existence of these pages are appearing while I am working on search functionality. I am curious if there is a way for Hugo to build in redirects for these pages to go to the pages they should go to. Or we should figure out how to configure Hugo to not build these pages in the first page |
This page gives a 404 for me. I think you mean https://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/sponsors/tailscale.com-ssh/ ? Using the format of /sponsors/ in the URL.
That's of course better than a redirect. I don't know enough about Hugo and the way the JB URL structure has been built. But just looking at the markdown source files, it looks like the source is indeed mostly blank.

We could convert the sponsors to data and pull and display. I think we could make that change transparent to the front end users. We would need to modify the scraper to output them in a different format and directory, but the existing and future episodes would not need to be altered. |

Summary
While looking into #516 I noticed that there are category pages for each show being built that are just blank. Hugo is making these html files and adding them to sitemap for some reason. My best spitball is that they are either some default by Hugo, but I am really not sure
