For the new app, these two things should be one in the same. The hope is to make the "source of truth" for all the figures and such the app itself. That is, the figures a user downloads will be exactly what they see on screen; they'll be downloading the very same pngs/pdfs/svgs that are being shown, which already will have the colors set appropriately based on the user's selected mode.
