The Python ecosystem is very rich, and where "standard" modules meet our needs, there are likely to be advantages in using them (broader testing, distribution of support effort, etc.). So we need to take a critical look at the code to see if there are opportunities to replace bespoke code with modules. We need to revisit this periodically as the ecosystem evolves.
