Jonah Albert was peacefully protesting at Cedar and South 6th streets around 8:25pm on May 30th. He was a block away from police, with his back to them walking away when they shot him in the back of the head causing him to fall to the ground bleeding. He is suing LMPD for unlawful battery, excessive force, and violation of Civil Rights.

During protests, shots were fired by an unknown shooter. Police returned fire, shooting and killing a restaurant owner. Their bodycams were switched off at the time, and as a result the Lousiville chief of police has resigned. Louisville metro police has released a CCTV video which they claim shows McAtee firing a gun, but no gun is visible in the video.
