Long input carrier videos will quickly fill disk - move temp files to home partition?

I'm trying to use a quite long carrier video with multiple sections of music and talking. Unfortunately the linux /tmp folder fills up very easily when it's being used like this when it is on a separate partition from /home (which is a fairly common practice). It might be beneficial for longer inputs to select a different temp folder.
